LEAD TECHNICIAN – BELLEVUE
Joshua, native of Bellevue, WA, came to Artisan with a wide array of skills and technical abilities, having been trained by some of the same Pacific Northwest’s industry leading technicians as David (Founder/Owner). Joshua has shown himself to be a true asset to our team with his love of pianos and working with people. He has always loved the piano because it blends music and mechanics in such a unique way. Our technicians are constantly honing their skills and teaching each other new techniques and practices. We are here to serve you not as individuals, but as a team of people who work together to give you the very best piano servicing experience possible.
Josh Mayfield, our lead technician in our Bellevue, Washington location, had a unique opportunity this week. While doing a cruise ship tuning on board the Zaandam, one of Holland America’s luxury cruise ships, a King 5 Seattle news crew came aboard to do a news story on what the cruise industry does for the local economy and small business like ours at Artisan Piano Services.
Josh explained, “As chance would have it they caught me tuning one of several pianos on board the ship and asked if they could get a few shots of me tuning and ask some questions. I was bit caught off guard but had a great time with them.”

Josh has been providing tuning and piano repair services on cruise ships almost every week for a number of years in Seattle. With all of the constant movement, changing atmospheric conditions and the amount of use the pianos get, Josh needs to regularly be using his years of expertise to keep them playing and sounding their best.
Whether it’s at home, in a church, a school or on a massive cruise ship, Artisan Piano Service has you covered in both the great Seattle, Washington and Portland, Oregon areas. Let us know if you need your piano tuned or other services! We even do complete piano restoration.

We just finished restoring a 100+ year old Hamburg Steinway & Sons model “O” piano. Fred Riley, of Classic Pianos, recorded this video of Ruby Hall playing Beethoven’s Sonata op.2 no.3 in our shop.
Artisan restored this piano for our partners,Classic Pianos, to showcase in their “Classic Collection.” The pianos that we restore for this collection are second to none in terms of quality of workmanship, materials and tone.
With a full piano restoration, we not only refinish the cabinet
…but also completely restore the belly, including new strings
…the keys and action are reconditioned
…and we even polish up and regulate the pedals!
Although we do all of our piano restoration work out of our Portland, Oregon location, we have had several come to us from the Seattle, Washington area, and from other parts of the United States and Britain.
We do shop tours daily, and would be delighted to show you around!
A little over a year ago Artisan Piano Services unveiled its new “Restoration Center.”
We are now proud to show the world “The Piano Shop”

In the video you can see our hard working and talented technicians completely rebuilding pianos in our remodeled and refreshed Piano Shop. We provide full piano restoration services, as well as less involved piano reconditioning services, including action rebuilding, refinishing, cleaning and re-stringing.
Artisan Piano Services is pleased to provide support this year for Pianos In The Park. Our very own Josh Mayfield has gone to several of the locations to tune and repair some of the various pianos. Click here to see an video about the development of this exciting arts and culture project!
For a number of years Artisan Piano Services has provided full restoration services for our customers. Over the last several months our Restoration Center has been located in Sandy, Oregon.
We have now moved our Restoration Center to just a couple of blocks from our office.
Here are some before pictures of the space we will be using for our new piano stringing area.
We are grateful for this new space because it will make it more convenient for our technicians, and will enable us to better serve our customers.
The home office of Artisan Piano Services has been located for a number of years at
3030 SE 10th Avenue, Portland OR 97202.
From here our office staff has been able schedule piano tunings, repairs, cleanings and appraisals.
It has served us well, but it has become increasingly cramped for our needs. Over time it became clear that we needed more space for our technicians to spread out and make room for more repair work.
In October this year we were given the opportunity to enlarge our office and piano workshop area by almost 3 times its original size. Notice the sliding French doors made by David Hayes!
We were able to knock out the wall to the office and open up the other space for our workshop.
We now have four new work benches and a staging area for our customers to be able see their newly completed rebuilt and restored pianos.
From our remodeled office we are able to coordinate the activities of all of our piano technicians in both our Portland, Oregon and Bellevue, Washington locations, and better serve the needs of our customers with piano repair needs.
Come by and see what we’ve done to the place – We’ll have coffee ready for you!
Artisan Piano Services In Bellevue, Washington
In May this year, Artisan Piano Services opened its second location in Bellevue, Washington. Sometimes companies expand to new locations after long planning and preparation. Josh had his own piano servicing business, but was looking for an opportunity to serve more people throughout the Puget Sound region and to become part of and grow with a stable company in the industry.
Joshua has shown himself to be a true asset to our team with his love of pianos and working with people. He has always loved the piano because it blends music and mechanics in such a unique way. Joshua and his wife, Amanda, are true Pacific Northwest outdoor enthusiasts and enjoy a wide array of outdoor activities including hiking, fishing, and biking.
After six months now, our Bellevue locations is beginning to grow in significant ways, and provides Artisan Piano Services’ outstanding customer service to Seattle, Kirkland, and as far as Tacoma, Washington.
